John Lang has a diverse background in performance, arranging and composition. John has toured worldwide with dozens of exceptional performers. New York City audiences know John’s work on upright, backing such artists as Larry Ham, Tardo Hammer and Michael Moore in duo settings. John led the River Spirit Music & Arts Festival “House Band”, playing for a wide range of artists. John is a founding and current member of the new American jazz powerhouse, The Kolotov Mocktails, whose debut CD “Ivy Hall” is enjoying a warm review on radio stations across the US. He has performed in Broadway orchestras for Legally Blond, The Color Purple and Jersey Boys, and has toured and performed regionally in Forever Plaid, Forty Second Street, Five Guys Named Moe, The Full Monty, Radio Broadway, and 100 Years of Broadway. Internationally, he has toured Europe with The Jack Casady Trio, and in South America with the Adrienne Hindmarsh Trio. His latest CD, “Now Ear This,” produced by jazz legend John Patitucci, will be released in December.
Tim Armacost has established himself as one of the most important improvisers on the New York scene today. Grammy-nominated saxophonist Armacost was born in Los Angeles but came of age as a musician in Tokyo, New Delhi, and Amsterdam, where he burnished his reputation as an upcoming talent, with a big tenor sound and an impeccable rhythmic sense. He tours regularly around the world both as a sideman and a leader. Armacost has worked with a phenomenal number of jazz greats, including Al Foster, Jimmy Cobb, Kenny Barron, Tom Harrell, Billy Hart, Victor Lewis, Jeff “Tain” Watts, Peter Erskine, Ray Drummond, Roy Hargrove, Don Friedman, and Randy Brecker. He has recorded 16 critically acclaimed records as a leader, performed on more than 60 as a sideman, and has composed and arranged for Wynton Marsalis and the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra. In addition to his own groups, Armacost co-leads the New York Standards Quartet, and the Brooklyn Big Band, for which he composes and arranges. He is a member of Emilio Solla’s Grammy-nominated group Inestabile de Brooklyn, and Armacost’s most recent leader date, Time Being, featuring Jeff ‘Tain’ Watts and Bob Hurst received a four-star review in Downbeat magazine and has met with critical acclaim around the world. www.timarmacost.com
Ron Vincent is a veteran drummer of the NYC jazz scene, as well as a sideman and producer. He was a member of the Gerry Mulligan Quartet and the Re-Birth of the Cool Tentet and recorded four CDs with Mulligan. Ron has also recorded with Phil Woods, Lee Konitz, Randy Brecker, Bob Brookmeyer, Bill Charlap, John Lewis and Slide Hampton, and has appeared with such notables as Art Farmer, Rob McConnell, Rufus Reid and Dr. Billy Taylor.
Bob Albanese is a pianist, composer, and educator and is one of the most versatile voices in jazz and contemporary music today. Bob has performed, arranged and/or recorded with Anita O’Day, Buddy Rich, Warne Marsh, The Duke Ellington orchestra, Bob Mover, Rita Moreno, Herb Ohta, Datevik Hovanesian, Leslie Uggums, Bill Watrous and a host of other Jazz artists ranging from Cab Calloway to Freddie Hubbard to Branford Marsalis. His latest project is an archive trio recording with drummer, Steve Davis and bassists, Ratzo Harris, John Benitez and Sean Smith entitled “Painted Notions” set for digital release November 2020.
